Halton Region is seeking a highly skilled Regional Traffic Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic within our region.

About the Role

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance road safety and efficiency. You will be responsible for monitoring regional traffic management centers, managing signal timings, and conducting warrant analysis for traffic control devices.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in traffic monitoring, traffic engineering software, and Synchro is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor regional traffic management centers to maintain signal timings, levels of service, and signal control areas.
  • Manage the Region's Traffic Engineering Software (TES) and Synchro network model.
  • Conduct warrant analysis for traffic control devices and prepare related reports.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance road safety and efficiency.
  • Maintain and update components of Regional road traffic and parking bylaws.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Transportation Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in traffic operations and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of traffic engineering principles and practices, including TAC Geometric Design Guide, Ontario Traffic Manual, Highway Traffic Act, and Ontario Provincial Standards.
  • Analytical, organizational, project management, and customer service skills.
