About the Role:
The Site Emergency Response Lead will play a critical role in leading the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program at NexGen Energy Ltd.'s Rook I site.
Responsibilities:
- Cordinate planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program
- Manage inspections and preventative maintenance requirements for all emergency response equipment to ensure compliance
- Schedule and coordinate emergency response training sessions, including wildland fire fighting, structural fire fighting, Hazmat, and mine rescue
- Maintain training records for all emergency response and mine rescue personnel, ensuring certifications and minimum training requirements are met
- Schedule and lead emergency response and mine rescue drills, ensuring Company and regulatory compliance
- Conduct ongoing monitoring of site-specific risks, identifying changes and modifying or developing emergency response action plans accordingly
- Provide subject matter expert support and input as required to ensure Project and site processes are fit-for-purpose and comply with regulatory requirements
- Assist in the incident management process, participate in incident investigations, and corrective action activities as assigned
- Participate in and contribute to risk assessments related to conventional health and safety hazards and controls
- Participate in the Integrated Management System audit activities as required
- Drive continual improvement efforts enhancing health and safety, emergency preparedness and response, fire protection, and contractor management programs
- Promote a strong safety culture, encouraging active participation with all employees and contractors
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years experience in heavy industry or mining, with uranium mining and milling experience considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years experience in emergency response management in an industrial capacity, with preference given to industrial firefighting, wildland fire fighting, Hazmat, confined space rescue, and high angle rescue
- NFPA 1001 level I-II certification considered an asset
- Saskatchewan underground mine rescue certification with preference given to mine rescue instructor certification
- Conversant with provincial and federal fire protection requirements relating to industrial operations, with preference given for knowledge on associated standards for nuclear facilities
- ICS 100, with 200 and 300 considered an asset
- Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories, and practices related to effective control of health and safety related risks
- Have an in-depth working knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Saskatchewan Mining Regulations
- Proficiency in incident investigation, and emergency response planning and execution
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong digital literacy with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with database management, and the ability to learn new software
Location and Remuneration:
This position will be based at the Rook I site located 150 km North of La Loche, Saskatchewan. The salary range is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
