The Dirt Merchant Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team.
About the Role:We are looking for an experienced technician to operate and maintain heavy equipment, including backhoe excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders, compactors, rollers, scrapers, and bobcats. The successful candidate will have a strong background in heavy equipment maintenance technology/technician and construction/heavy equipment/earthmoving equipment operation.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Operate heavy equipment: Interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to plan methods or sequences of operation, read blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements, and use International Organization for Standardization (ISO) pattern joystick controls and Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) controls pattern.
- Maintain equipment: Clean and lubricate equipment, refill equipment tanks, and perform scheduled maintenance service on equipment.
- Perform minor repairs: Identify and repair issues with heavy equipment, and train or assist in the training of other workers.
- Certifications: Heavy Equipment Operator Trade Certification, Occupational Health and Safety Certificate, Driver's License (Class 1 or A), Driver's License (Class 3 or D), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate, CPR Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate, and Ground Disturbance - Level II program.
- Experience: 5 years or more experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance, preferably in oil and gas well sites, road construction, or mining.
- Competitive Salary: $80,000 per year, based on industry standards and location.
