Heavy Equipment Operator

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled Tow Truck Driver to join our team at McCarthy's Towing & Recovery Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating heavy equipment, including tow trucks and other specialized vehicles, to transport goods and materials.
About the Job:
The Tow Truck Driver will perform pre-trip inspections on their vehicle, ensure all necessary documentation is completed, and follow safety protocols to prevent accidents. They will also interact with customers, receive payments, and relay information to central dispatch.
Responsibilities:
- Drive lighter, special purpose trucks to transport goods and materials
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks) or Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles), as well as an Air Brakes Endorsement and Extended Trailer Combination Permit or Endorsement. They will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, flexibility, and judgment.
