Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) program that meets the needs of our organization and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for our employees.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement OH&S Program: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive OH&S program that meets the needs of Fraser Health and ensures a safe and healthy work environment for employees.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide Training and Education: Provide training and education to employees on OH&S policies and procedures, as well as provide guidance on safe work practices.
- Investigate Incidents: Investigate incidents and near-miss incidents to identify root causes and develop strategies to prevent future incidents.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with stakeholders, including management, employees, and unions, to ensure that OH&S policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.
- Education and Experience: Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from a recognized program, plus five years recent related experience in a unionized environment and registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and certification that is acceptable to Fraser Health.
- Competencies: Demonstrates the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring, and Courageous and creates the conditions for people to succeed.
- Professional/Technical Capabilities: Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety principles and practices, working knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and legislation, and collective agreements.
