Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physician Leader to join our team at Northumberland Hills Hospital. As a Hospital Medicine Specialist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and enhancement of our established Hospitalist program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for medical patients, working collaboratively with local General Practitioners, Specialists, Nurse Practitioners, and Allied Health professionals using a blended model for hospital-based care.
  • Participating in the call schedule for the Hospitalist Program, contributing to ongoing quality improvement initiatives, and enhancing the delivery of care within the acute and post-acute departments.
  • Anticipate a shared daily caseload of approximately 25 to 35 patients for the team (Physician and NP).

Qualifications

  • Certification with the College of Family Physicians (CCFP)
  • Registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
  • Family Medicine or Internal Medicine trained
  • Strong communication and interprofessional skills

Northumberland Hills Hospital delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient, and diagnostic services. Our hospital provides emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care, and palliative care, as well as restorative care and rehabilitation. We also offer mental health care, chemotherapy, dialysis, and 16 other ambulatory care clinics through partnerships with regional centers and nearby specialists.

Our hospital is located on the north shores of Lake Ontario in west Northumberland County, just an hour's drive east of Toronto and approximately three and a half hours west of Montreal. We serve a mixed urban and rural catchment area of approximately 60,000 residents, with easy access to Peterborough, Oshawa, Belleville, and other nearby cities.
