Job Summary

The Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to lead the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an implementation plan, monitoring progress, and concluding the project with a final report and recommendations.

This project is sponsored by the (PSE&FS) and is led by TRU. The Project Manager will be the main contact for the project, collaborating across the institution and with parties outside of TRU to plan, develop, implement, monitor progress, and report on the project tasks and deliverables within the allocated budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the project according to the identified project plan, bringing it to conclusion.
  • Identify and notify the Director, PLAR, or other project team members of emergent issues as they arise so they can be dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Review and analyze existing project forms and documentation.
  • Select participating Micro-Credentials (MCs) and recruit assessors to assess the selected MCs.
  • Manage internal and external assessors and committees for the project.
  • Develop and conduct an online training program for MC assessors with guidance from the Director, PLAR.
  • Prepare various reports and presentations, including reports for committees and expense reports, and help monitor financial commitments and expenditures for the project.
  • Liaise between TRU and external parties to house MC information in a public digital repository.
  • Monitor assessment progress and conduct evaluation surveys with assessors, participating institutions, and institution staff.
  • Other duties as assigned in relation to the project.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant discipline, Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience writing reports and project briefs.
  • Experience with Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition preferred.
  • Experience working in an academic environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of process mapping and documentation.
  • Strong oral and written (papers, reports, presentations, diagrams, etc.) communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential, diplomatic, and sensitive situations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to coordinate administrative and logistic needs of committees and plan projects end-to-end and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
