Job Summary

The Thompson Rivers University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Coordinator, Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. This position requires a strong leader who can provide strategic guidance and support to faculty members in enhancing teaching and learning practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to faculty members in developing effective teaching and learning strategies.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and teaching assistants to design and implement innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the CELT Strategic Plan.
  • Lead the process of innovative change to develop and ensure best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Promote the scholarship of teaching and learning and advocate for scholarly teaching.
  • Act as a resource in emerging areas in post-secondary teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate to design, promote, and provide professional development opportunities for faculty.
  • Contribute to and collaborate on relevant institutional initiatives such as learning outcomes, curriculum design, assessment, course evaluation, and accreditation.
  • Participate on committees where teaching and learning are integral.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise and excellence in teaching.
  • Experience in curriculum development at the degree level.
  • Strong knowledge of current practices and trends in the field.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to the goals of the Centre.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Teaching and leadership experience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable working using technology in their teaching.
  • Experience mentoring and working with undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Tenured internal faculty member.
  • PhD/EdD or requisite terminal degree.
  • Five (5) years of directly related experience including three (3) years' experience as an effective and scholarly instructor at the post-secondary undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in adult education.
  • Demonstrable ability to create and implement enhanced teaching and learning and curriculum development opportunities.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively lead, coordinate, and collaborate in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary contexts.
  • Demonstrable potential to contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning.
