Job Title: Autism Support Associate

Kerry's Place Autism Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Associate to join our team. As a key member of our support team, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

About the Role:

The Autism Support Associate will work closely with individuals with ASD, their families, and support teams to provide personalized support and coaching in areas such as social skills, communication, and leisure activities. You will also be responsible for administering medication, following behavioral and crisis protocols, and developing positive relationships with families and community members.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide support and coaching in social skills, communication, and leisure activities
  • Administer medication as per procedure
  • Follow behavioral and crisis protocols as documented
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports, and community members
  • Provide leadership and coaching to other employees to continuously improve the quality of service and the work environment
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or from a registered and Ministry approved Private Career College and 1 year of experience of related experience (preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder); OR
  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 5 years of related experience (preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder)
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Must have the ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Must have the ability to complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, as well as perform the required physical techniques. Training will be provided at no cost
  • A valid Driver's License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle is required and proof of third party liability insurance coverage
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver's Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points
