Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Services Coordinator to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB). As a key member of our Youth Protection team, you will be responsible for providing clinical, professional, and case management services to support the well-being of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement, update, monitor, analyze, and assess clinical activities and intervention plans in collaboration with Youth Healing Services.
  • Provide specific clinical, professional, and case management services, support, and advice to Youth Protection Community Workers.
  • Oversee the staff's implementation of policies, standards, and quality assurance programs.
  • Assist the Director of Youth Protection in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Provide support to the Social Assistance Team workers in work-related matters.
  • Oversee the worker's workload, schedule, and timesheets.
  • Conduct one-on-one, monthly meetings, and training to new employees.
  • Oversee the reports being retained, not retained, or referred to other services.
  • Identify issues with service delivery and problem-solve on how to ameliorate services.
  • Ensure priority cases are processed in the shortest delay and directed to the local team leaders.
Requirements
  • University degree in social sciences, such as criminology, social work, sexology, or psychology.
  • Two years of relevant experience in social services and more specifically with Youth Protection.
  • Completed CHARLIE and PCFI training (asset).
Preferred Qualifications
  • College degree in an appropriate discipline.
  • Five years of relevant experience as a YP Community Worker or Social Assistance Technician.
Knowledge and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the Youth Protection Act and current trends in relation to youth placement.
  • Good knowledge of First Nation social service models, trends, and issues in Eeyou Istchee.
  • Ability in youth and family intervention planning, supervision, team leadership, and monitoring.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with all colleagues, more specifically with Front Line services and Youth Healing Services staff and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge, as applied to coaching and training.
  • Ability in office computer applications.
  • Autonomous, flexible, discrete, and empathetic.
  • Excellent critical thinking, synthesis, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Language

Fluent in English and Cree; fluency in French is an asset.
