Highway Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Highway Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at the Ministry of Transportation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in highway engineering, with expertise in planning, design, construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and operation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering advice and support to the ministry's asset management program, working with internal and external stakeholders to analyze asset management data, identify priority rehabilitation needs, and make recommendations to senior management.
- Contribute to the division's Expansion Prioritization Framework, policies, and processes to identify strategic highway expansion projects.
- Support the division's multi-year planning process and investment decision-making for the capital construction program, including business case development for submission to central funding agencies.
- Participate in cross-functional, cross-divisional, and inter-ministerial technical task groups and project teams to promote effective management of assets and investment decision-making.
- Professional Engineer license with the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Knowledge of highway engineering theories and practices, asset management models, systems, and tools, analytical techniques, engineering economics, and financial and capital planning.
- Ability to apply state-of-the-art computer technology, software, and data management techniques to maintain, extract, analyze, and report information related to highway infrastructure.
- Proven analytical and evaluative skills, with the ability to review technical data, policies, and reports, draw conclusions, and provide recommendations, including financial implications.
- Strong planning and organizational skills to support the Ministry's asset management program, including capital needs analysis for the annual funding request process.
