Job Title: Health and Safety Manager

At Terrafirma Resources, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management within the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support senior management in the development and communication of HSE initiatives and organizational commitment to the OHS system.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other relevant stakeholders on HSE-related matters.
  • Manage the overall OHSM systems and ensure the program meets legislative and client requirements and is easily audited (COR).
  • Perform COR internal maintenance audits (AASP) and lead by example to promote proactive and reactive reporting.
  • Inspect and observe employee acts/behaviors and drive a health and safety culture to strengthen systems and be a Health and Safety industry leader.
  • Monitor client H&S requirements (ISN, Complyworks, Avetta platforms) and develop Safe Work Practices/Standards to ensure provincial legislation compliance.
  • Be a resource person to support the workers JWHSC and monitor/verify legislative requirements are being met.
  • Maintain and monitor the approved vendor list and pre-qualification of new vendors.
  • Manage incidents, including performing investigations, and corrective action plans.
  • Support the development and deployment of HSE training and education programs.
  • Maintain employee certifications and the competency management system.
  • Support compliance with HSE record keeping requirements.
  • Periodically analyze regional HSE statistics and report on trends and recommend actions to improve HSE performance.
  • Ensure compliance to NSC standards and perform monthly logbook auditing.
  • Develop content for and chair monthly safety meetings and supervisor meetings.
  • Manage WCB claims and facilitate effective return to work programs.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of occupational HSE work experience within the oil and gas industry or similar.
  • Certified as a COR internal auditor (Certificate of Recognition).
  • NCSO considered an asset.
  • CRST/CRSP considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of SALUS digital safety system is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of NSC standards and transportation compliance are considered an asset.
  • Indepth knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal HSE regulations and standards applicable to Oil & Gas operations in Canada.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
