The candidate will be responsible for the overall underwriting of the Property and Casualty line of business within the Corporate Underwriting department. This includes developing and revising corporate underwriting guidelines, authority, products, and reinsurance protocols. This role has national scope and encompasses all regions and divisions writing commercial insurance on behalf of the company.

The Compliance Risk Manager will provide direction and support to Region Vice Presidents and Segment Leads to ensure compliance with company underwriting requirements. They will also resolve complex underwriting issues effectively and elevate them to the Manager or AVP, Corporate Underwriting, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Quality and Risk Appetite: Acts as a contributor and Region/Division contact for P&C Corporate Underwriting for other departments, providing direction and support to regions and/or divisions on underwriting matters.
  • Underwriting Guidelines: Identifies and implements necessary changes to underwriting and pricing guidelines to support corporate objectives, underwriting philosophy, and changes in the marketplace.
  • Portfolio analysis: Understands trends, profitability, and market competitors.

Requirements

  • Strong technical Property and Casualty underwriting skills; prior experience with agribusiness underwriting is an asset.
  • Promotes a culture of high performance and sustained profitable growth by encouraging productivity, collaboration, teamwork, and professionalism.
  • Fluency in both English and French, oral, and written, is an asset.

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on work location and individual factors. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
