The Physician Resource Planner plays a critical role in supporting the effective and efficient functioning of the strategic Recruitment Program within the North Zone. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of business processes and the ability to apply best practices and knowledge regarding internal organization and external industry challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Develops and implements strategies for appropriate physician recruitment in partnership with the North Zone and Provincial Medical Affairs teams, AHS healthcare facility leads, external community partners, and North Zone Physicians.
- Works closely with stakeholders to understand healthcare objectives and plan and implement strategies to meet those objectives.
- Develops and maintains open communication with all facility and community Medical Directors, Facility Leads/Directors/VPs, and relevant external community partners regarding issues or recruitment items.
- Maintains updated advertising/information on North Zone vacancies and recruitment requirements.
- Gathers all documentation necessary for licensure, including College of Physicians and Surgeons, CMPA, references, CV, medical degrees, etc.
- Coordinates site/community visits and/or video-interview process.
- Assists with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta process for licensure.
- Prepares all documentation necessary for Human Resource Development and Canada Immigration.
- Manages all general inquiries of foreign physicians wishing to relocate to Canada.
- Assists/coordinates participation in annual Physician Recruitment Fair(s) and Resident Reception(s).
- Prepares the North Zone Physician Workforce Plan.
- May be required to interact with the media and act as a spokesperson for Medical Affairs related issues.
- Will be required to travel to sites within the North Zone to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- May be accountable for managing special project work related to Medical Affairs business needs.
- Physical location within the North Zone.
- Preference given to candidates in Grande Prairie or Fort McMurray.
- A minimum of a related post-secondary degree or diploma and two years of related experience.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong leadership ability.
- Ability to inspire and instill confidence in a large diverse group.
- Experience in managing change on a large scale.
- Working knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems and processes.
- Previous experience with Recruitment or Medical Affairs.
- Ability to manage projects or programs with minimal to moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
- Ability to monitor and control costs related to own work.
- May manage costs for moderate projects or programs.
- Working knowledge of immigration and recruitment legislation, policies, processes.
- Working knowledge of office software databases (Outlook, Excel, Word) in order to respond to action requests, to prepare and edit correspondence, and respond to stakeholder inquiries.
- Knowledge of political sensitivities and the diverse interests of diverse stakeholders; and of financial policies, as well as of legislation governing Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP), financial and human resource information systems, and expense claim system is essential.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
