Job Title: Physician Assistant

Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our Emergency Department team.

About the Role:

The Physician Assistant will work under the delegation of a Supervising Physician to provide optimal, ethical patient-centered care. This includes assessing and managing medium to high acuity patients, applying clinical knowledge, and working as a lead medical provider in our innovative ED Fast Track Program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and manage patients in the Emergency Department, including those who may require admission.
  • Apply clinical knowledge to care for patients assessed as CTAS level 4 and 5, with some CTAS level 3 patients as per established criteria.
  • Work as a lead medical provider in our ED Fast Track Program.
  • Seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals.
  • Perform a complete and appropriate assessment of patients and formulate a differential diagnosis and clinical treatment plan.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and other health care professionals as appropriate to the clinical setting.
  • Facilitate coordination of the interdisciplinary team via referrals to appropriate health care providers authorized by the supervising physician.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (Physician Assistant), Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant Degree, or Canadian Forces Health Services Physician Assistant Baccalaureate degree required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Emergency medicine and the Emergency Department patient.
  • Knowledge of Physician Assistant Scope of Practice, Delegation of Controlled Acts, and Medical Directives.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and policy requirements applicable to the organization.
  • Excellent time management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in problem-solving, team building, conflict resolution, decision-making, managing change, and group process.
  • Strong computer skills and technological aptitude.
