Medical Laboratory Technologist

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Cytogenetics Laboratory team.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies. They will work accurately and precisely, performing preventive maintenance of equipment and recognizing problems to take appropriate action.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform established routine and specialized Cytogenetics laboratory procedures as required
- Review, record, accurately report, and check test results in a timely manner
- Recognize abnormal or unusual lab results and take appropriate action according to protocol
- Identify technical or quality process problems and take appropriate corrective action
- Understand and participate in quality control, quality assurance, and the quality management system
- Understand, follow, and ensure policies/processes/procedures are in compliance with laboratory accreditation requirements
- Work safely in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Perform other duties as required
- Member of CMLTO or eligible for registration in Genetics (Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics)
- Experience in Cytogenetics an asset
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset
Working at North York General Hospital means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada's leading hospitals. This is a Full Time Regular Position, with 8 hours day shifts in the Cytogenetics Laboratory. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package that includes benefits, pension, and vacation.
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department.
