Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Core Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining laboratory equipment, as well as preparing written and electronic reports to document procedures and test results.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, including troubleshooting and performing routine maintenance tasks
- Preparing written and electronic reports to document procedures and test results
- Participating in teaching, educational, safety, and quality improvement programs
- Observing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO)
- One year of recent laboratory experience in a large hospital Biochemistry Laboratory
- Ability to develop skills and knowledge in all areas of the laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment, and special techniques
- Excellent problem recognition and problem-solving skills
- Effective time management skills and ability to organize work and set priorities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions
- Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols, and practices
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Ability to coach technical staff
