Mental Health Nurse Leader for Crisis Care

About the Job
Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to lead our crisis care team in providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate psychiatric nursing care services to clients in acute psychiatric crisis or situational crisis
- Set priorities, assign, and delegate tasks to support staff through direct care activities
- Intervene to stabilize clients using supportive counselling, therapeutic interventions, and a safe and supportive environment
- Collaborate with Program Coordinator and Psychiatrist regarding client mental/medical status, response to treatment, and readiness for discharge
- Communicate with primary therapist/case manager by faxing confirmation of admission and discharge summaries
- Facilitate hospital admission for psychiatric or medical emergencies when necessary
- Educate clients on coping skills, life skills, and medication management
- Ensure consistent safe care by completing and reviewing client-focused care plans
- Document all interactions, assessments, and interventions in the client's chart
- Communicate facility concerns and client issues to the team, emphasizing safety
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved Nursing Program with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- One year of recent, related mental health and substance use experience in an acute/sub-acute/community setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Standard First Aid and CPR level C (or equivalent)
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
Estimated Salary Range: $83,000 - $112,000 per annum
