Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Residential Child Care Specialist. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and youth in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, set goals, and evaluate progress of individuals served
  • Teach social skills through daily routines and activities
  • Monitor safety and well-being, promoting health and security
  • Provide behavior management counseling and emotional support
  • Ensure communication and liaison between program, school, family, and community
  • Meet physical needs of individuals served, including personal hygiene and activities of daily living
  • Administer medications according to established guidelines
  • Maintain reports and statistics related to individuals served
  • Perform household duties, including meal preparation and cleaning
  • Accompany individuals to appointments and community outings
  • Participate in OHS Committee and advocate for individuals served
  • Operate motor vehicles safely and legally
Requirements
  • Child and Youth Care Degree or Diploma, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum two years recent related experience in child and youth care or emergency shelter
  • Previous experience with trauma-informed practice
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and clean driver's abstract
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, WHMIS, and Food Hygiene and Sanitation certificates
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate (NVCI) and/or MANDT and Conflict Resolution Certificate
  • Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and negative tuberculosis screening test
