Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team at Interior Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative support to our nursing staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide clerical duties related to the operation of a patient care area, including prioritizing, processing, and coordinating physicians' orders.
  • Communication: Act as a communication link for the unit, scheduling, booking, and coordinating patient appointments.
  • Chart Management: Assemble and maintain patient charts, input patient data, and transcribe information into relevant systems.
  • Clerical Duties: Perform keyboarding, data entry, filing, compiling, preparing, and maintaining statistics, producing reports, delivering, and picking up items.
  • Timekeeping: Maintain timekeeping records for regular and relief staff and submit/enter to payroll systems.
  • Patient Care: Observe patient call signals and relay messages to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of Grade 12.
  • Typing Test: A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution.
  • Certificate: A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to keyboard 40 wpm, communicate effectively, deal with others effectively, and operate related equipment.
