About the Role

The University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Facilities Planner to join its Facilities Management and Space Planning office. As a key member of the team, you will provide strategic guidance to a team of facilities planners and operations specialists, and work in close partnership with University counterparts to independently manage projects and conduct research related to physical planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic guidance to a team of facilities planners and operations specialists
  • Work in close partnership with University counterparts to independently manage projects
  • Conduct research related to physical planning
  • Develop and implement sophisticated, complicated projects for highly specialized research and academic needs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project requirements
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • A licensed professional architect
  • Minimum seven years' applicable experience in the field of design and construction
  • Experience managing construction projects of varying complexity and involving statistical and facilities analysis
  • Knowledge of laboratory or other research and teaching environments
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective direction, training, and guidance to staff
  • Advanced proficiency with CAD software for plans and 3-D drawings, and spreadsheets/analytical software
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and numerical skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively manage expectations and negotiate regarding project requirements and/or changes
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet established deadlines, and achieve results in a highly complex environment
  • High level of accuracy required while working under pressure
  • Sound judgment, tact, patience, and sensitivity to the diverse needs of clients
