Senior Environmental Planner

Gannett Fleming is seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Planner to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This role will involve leading and delivering Environmental Assessment projects across various sectors, including transportation infrastructure, transit expansion, and water/wastewater.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and deliver Environmental Assessment projects, including Ministry of Transportation (MTO) Class EAs and Municipal Class EAs, from planning to approval phases.
- Coordinate with engineering design teams to ensure technical and environmental workstreams are aligned.
- Author Environmental Assessment Reports and supporting documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.
- Interpret relevant legislation, including Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and Impact Assessment Act.
- Prepare public and stakeholder consultation plans and engagement strategies.
- Carry out public, review agency, and Indigenous Communities consultation.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and prepare consultation strategies and meeting materials.
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project schedule, scope, and budget.
- Manage a team of environmental and technical disciplines.
- Assist in preparing documentation to support permits and approvals.
- Coordinate environmental aspects of projects through planning, design, and construction.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Management, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience managing and delivering Environmental Assessments in Ontario.
- Established working knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Experience managing MTO Class EAs and Municipal Class EAs.
- Understanding of transportation, transit, and municipal infrastructure construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and drawings.
- Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction and achieving goals.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to noise, cultural heritage, archaeology, natural heritage, air quality, land use, species at risk, etc.
- Excellent self-management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with environmental permits and approvals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional designation such as Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
