Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Applications Assistant to join our team at BC Housing. As a key member of our Applicant Services department, you will provide exceptional customer service and support in the daily operations of our programs and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct customer service and support to the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Be knowledgeable in all Applicant Services' program areas, including affordable housing programs and housing clientele.
  • Apply legislation, regulations, operating agreements, and other information sources to assess and explain eligibility for programs and services.
  • Plan, meet deadlines, and adapt to critical priorities in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and a heavy workload.
  • Multi-task and work independently, contributing to a team environment and establishing effective working relationships with staff, the public, and housing providers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus post-secondary courses in office systems and procedures, business administration, or customer service.
  • Considerable experience in an office environment, with sound experience providing detailed information to the public.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable to the Employer.
  • Sound knowledge of general office procedures and systems, including computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with solid command of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, with the ability to demonstrate patience, respect, and tact when dealing with upset, angry, or abusive clients.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
