We are currently recruiting for experienced Registered Practical Nurses to join our rapidly growing team at peopleCare Communities, an award-winning company in Canada. As a Senior Long-Term Care Nurse Practitioner, you will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and report to the Director of Care while providing nursing and personal care to residents.

About the Role

This position involves overseeing and assisting residents with daily routines and functions such as bathing, dressing, undressing, and eating meals as required. You will also review 24-72 hour reports at the beginning of your shift, follow and process physician orders, administer medications and treatments within the limitations set by the College of Nurses, and observe and monitor conditions of residents and report changes in physical or mental conditions to the Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Assure observance with required techniques in nursing care
  • Responsible for resident safety according to role
  • Participate in the development and modification of resident's plan of care
  • Monitor resident's health and note any changes in condition appropriately
  • Assist in implementing/evaluating the effectiveness of the plans
  • Cooperate in the provision of life enrichment programs for the residents
  • Participate in restorative care program
  • Notify the Registered Nurse of incidents or accidents and complete appropriate forms
  • Assist in training and directing non-registered nursing staff in providing care to residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with other staff members
  • Participate in meetings and committees
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A current Medication Administration Certificate, or equivalent
  • A current certificate of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing
  • Experience in Long-Term Care considered an asset
  • Registered with a regulatory body
  • Experience working with seniors and unregulated care providers
  • Educational background and/or experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
  • Strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, care coordination, time management, and customer focus skills
  • Skills in use of computer and Microsoft Office applications
Estimated Salary Range

$75,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience.
