New Westminster Schools is seeking a visionary leader to spearhead its technology and innovation efforts. As the Director of Information Technology, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the district's technological landscape and ensuring seamless execution of its vision, mission, and values.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in computer science or a related field, with considerable experience in integrating new technologies and methodologies into a large organization. They will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic Information Technology Plan, managing the IT budget, and negotiating with software and hardware vendors.

The Director of Technology and Information Services will work closely with staff and stakeholders to plan, develop, implement, and support the information technology needs of the district. They will provide hands-on technical support within the TIS Team and supervise the work of all Technology and Information Services staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a cost-effective, reliable TIS infrastructure and architecture
  • Defining, delivering, and managing a TIS infrastructure and architecture in partnership with system leaders, senior staff, stakeholders, and information technology vendors
  • Continually reviewing existing services in light of changing district requirements and designing, developing, and implementing appropriate new services that reflect best practices
  • Supervising and supporting the work of all Technology and Information Services staff
  • Developing and implementing a strategic Information Technology Plan for all users of the district
  • Managing the Information Technology and Information Services budget and expenditures
  • Negotiating with software and hardware vendors on pricing and terms and conditions for major acquisitions and renewals of software and hardware contracts
  • Researching and implementing leading-edge educational software and technologies to support student needs
  • Managing the primary contractors delivering new systems, such as technical support at the Secondary and Tertiary levels, new Telecommunications and integrated systems, structured wiring, and other contracted services

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent education and work experience. Considerable experience and success with integrating new technologies and methodologies into a large organization are essential.
