Job Summary

The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security and Data Privacy Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Information Technology Services department, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the board's cyber security strategies, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Enforce Cyber Security Policies: Create and implement policies and procedures to ensure the protection of sensitive data and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Cyber Security Team: Lead a team of cyber security professionals to monitor and protect against threats, manage security projects, and conduct regular security audits and risk assessments.
  • Respond to Security Incidents: Respond to security incidents and lead remediation efforts to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Provide Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff and students on data security best practices and promote a culture of security awareness.
  • Oversee Security Technologies: Manage security technologies such as firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems to ensure they are properly configured and up-to-date.
  • Monitor Network Resources: Regularly analyze network resources for abnormalities and potential security breaches, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Information Technology Services department to participate in the development and annual review of the ITS strategic plan.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent, plus relevant certifications.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years' experience in cyber security management or seven (7) years' related experience in information technology, including experience within a large complex unionized environment.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven supervisory and leadership skills, including direct experience supervising employees.
  • Cyber Security Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of cybersecurity detect and response methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient and demonstrated experience in managing network security, operating systems security, and cloud security.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent team leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment, with exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
