The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security and Data Privacy Manager to join our Information Technology Services team. As a key member of our senior technical team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the board's cyber security strategies, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Enforce Cyber Security Policies: Create and maintain comprehensive cyber security policies and procedures to protect the board's sensitive data and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Lead Cyber Security Team: Manage a team of cyber security professionals to monitor and protect against cyber threats, ensuring the board's systems and data remain secure.
- Manage Security Projects: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of security projects, ensuring they are properly documented and completed within budget and timeframe.
- Conduct Regular Security Audits: Perform regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Respond to Security Incidents: Lead the response to security incidents, ensuring timely and effective remediation efforts to minimize impact on the board's operations.
- Provide Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to staff and students on cyber security best practices, ensuring they are aware of their roles and responsibilities in maintaining the board's cyber security posture.
- Oversee Security Technologies: Manage the board's security technologies, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and intrusion detection systems, to ensure they are properly configured and up-to-date.
- Monitor Network Resources: Regularly analyze network resources for abnormalities and potential security breaches, taking prompt action to address any issues identified.
- Participate in Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Information Technology Services department to develop and annual review the ITS strategic plan, ensuring cyber security is integrated into the board's overall strategy.
- Support Security Technologies: Provide support and administration for security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, Network/Systems monitoring, and Cyber Security.
- Implement Identity and Security Processes: Develop and implement identity and security-related processes and procedures to ensure the board's systems and data remain secure.
- Continual Monitoring and Analysis: Use provided tools to perform continual monitoring and analysis of system activity to identify malicious activity and configure mitigations.
- Education and Certifications: University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent, plus relevant certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CRISC, etc.
- Experience: Minimum five years' experience in cyber security management or seven years' related experience in information technology, including experience within a large complex unionized environment.
- Leadership and Supervisory Skills: Proven supervisory and leadership skills, including direct experience supervising employees.
- Cyber Security Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of cyber security detection and response methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Technical Skills: Proficient and demonstrated experience in managing network security, operating systems security, and cloud security.
- IT/Cyber Security Concepts: Proven understanding of key IT/cyber security concepts, including network security, security operations and administration, managed detection and response, incident response and recovery, vulnerability management, etc.
- Cyber Security Frameworks: Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of current cyber security frameworks, including NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, and ISO.
- Team Leadership and Organizational Skills: Excellent team leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment, with exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure to meet aggressive timelines and resolve critical issues.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Driver's License and Vehicle: A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle are required, as this position may require travel.
