Family Medicine Physician

Job Summary:
Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health are seeking a skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team. As a Family Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality patient care, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
- Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice, ensuring efficient use of resources and effective management of patient care.
- Continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community, ensuring seamless coordination of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level health care, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Build to capacity within the first two years, establishing a strong patient base and contributing to the growth and development of the practice.
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Work toward same day or next day access for the practice population, ensuring timely and effective access to care.
- Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
- Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required, ensuring continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities, contributing to the ongoing improvement of patient care and services.
- Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR, ensuring accurate and efficient documentation of patient care.
Requirements:
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
- Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
