About This Role

The Kingston Family Health Centre is actively seeking a dedicated family physician to become a vital part of our collaborative healthcare team. This team consists of three family physicians, a family practice nurse, two nurse practitioners, and a licensed nurse practitioner (LPN), complemented by weekly services from a social worker, dietician, and occupational therapist. Our clinic is efficiently operated under the Nova Scotia Health Authority, providing a supportive environment for physicians to manage their billings independently or with the assistance of billing support staff. The clinic is equipped to perform minor procedures on-site, while other procedures are conducted at a nearby hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients across all age groups and health conditions.
  • Maintain accountability for a balanced workload and professional practice.
  • Ensure continuity of patient care in collaboration with healthcare providers within the practice and community.
  • Coordinate community-based care alongside secondary and tertiary healthcare services.
  • Achieve practice capacity within the initial two years for new primary care providers.
  • Adhere to the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Strive for same-day or next-day access for the patient population.
  • Collaborate with team members to address the community's health needs effectively.
  • Work with other healthcare providers to ensure after-hours access and emergency coverage as necessary.
  • Engage in quality improvement and evaluation initiatives.
  • Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) system to document all relevant patient information in a provincially approved EMR accessible to all team members.
Expected Work Hours
  • Full-time commitment.
  • Clinic operating hours: Monday to Friday.
Qualifications
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS) is required for all applicants.
  • All family physicians must qualify for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) is mandatory.
