Director of Development
Symphony Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Development Director to lead our fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of classical music in Nova Scotia, fostering meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and community partners.

Job Description

The Director of Development will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the organization's mission. This includes building strong relationships with major donors, corporations, and foundations, as well as leading special events and campaigns to secure funding for our arts programs.

You will work closely with our CEO, Music Director, and Board of Directors to identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and steward gifts. Your expertise in donor engagement, corporate giving, and event planning will drive revenue growth and enhance the overall impact of our programming.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge of donor database software and other fundraising technology to optimize our development operations.


Requirements
  • A proven track record of securing large gifts and managing successful fundraising campaigns;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build genuine relationships both within and outside the organization;
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising staff and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams;
  • Thorough knowledge of donor database software and other fundraising technology;
  • Completion of relevant post-secondary education; and
  • A passion for music and the arts, particularly classical music.

What We Offer

Symphony Nova Scotia offers a competitive salary range: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a generous compensation package, we provide a flexible working environment with 35-hour workweeks, plus evening and weekend events.
