Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Recreation Services Assistant to join our team at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. As a key member of our Recreation Services department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing facility operations, and supporting administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and the public, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Facility Operations: Assist with the daily operations of the recreation facility, including opening and closing procedures, equipment deployment, and facility maintenance.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the Recreation Services department, including data entry, record-keeping, and report preparation.
  • Membership Sales: Sell memberships and services to students and staff, handling cash transactions and maintaining accurate records.
  • Event Support: Assist with event planning and execution, including setup, coordination, and teardown.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and staff, providing clear and concise information and updates.
Requirements
  • Education: Completion of Grade 12 plus one year of post-secondary training in recreation, physical education, sport management, business, or a related field.
  • Experience: Two years of general experience plus two years of practical experience in recreation-related jobs, including experience working on a point-of-sale cash register and reconciling daily cash sales.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Occupational First Aid (OFA 1) or equivalent.
  • Software/Computer Applications: Demonstrated Microsoft Office experience, with Excel and Word at the intermediate level.
Working Conditions

This is a temporary, full-time position (1.0 FTE) with a competitive salary and benefits package. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
