Opportunity Overview

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Planning and Scheduling Manager to join our Urban Transportation Solutions group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting dynamic transit projects in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure project compliance with Aecon's Project Controls standards and applicable contract documents.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring data integrity across the project life cycle.
  • Forecast resource requirements, including labor, materials, and equipment, based on work front analysis.
  • Establish productivity benchmarks for estimates, in collaboration with Construction.
  • Prepare progress reports and dashboards to provide project status updates to internal and external clients.
  • Implement and maintain Earned Value Management plans to measure project performance and identify variances.
  • Manage schedule change notices and forecast project impact, implementing corrective action when necessary.
  • Audit schedules, including those produced by subcontractors, and prepare required output documents.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Aecon's Project Controls policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain, add, or modify schedule data and plans.
  • Oversee 5D integration with 3D models and cost, reporting outputs including cash flow and sequence simulations.
  • Support project change management, including subcontractor claims, change requests, and dispute resolution.
  • Provide commercial and technical expertise for proposal development and contractually defined project control requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to contract conditions regarding Project Controls requirements, project set-up, monitoring, and close-out.
  • Identify commercial/schedule risks and develop mitigation measures to ensure timely and high-quality planning and scheduling deliverables.
  • Understand Monte Carlo risk analysis and contribute to Risk Mitigation Plans.
  • Lead and develop project controls personnel, including Project Planning and Scheduling Specialists.
  • Foster an inclusive culture, promoting equity, diversity, and career progression.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of scheduling/planning experience.
  • Proven experience in planning, scheduling, and managing complex projects, preferably in heavy civil or LRT.
  • Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
  • Proven ability to lead project planning and scheduling staff.
  • Expert-level knowledge of project planning and scheduling software, including Primavera P6 and TILOS.
  • SAP, Hard Dollar, PowerBI, and Synchro knowledge is an asset.
