Job Overview

Calian Group Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer to join our Nuclear team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development of robotic tooling for Nuclear reactor applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct scientific and technical project work for Calian Nuclear clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables and effective communication with stakeholders.
  2. Develop and maintain technical documents outlining research approaches, development procedures, and testing protocols.
  3. Collaborate with the Director to identify business opportunities and develop proposals that showcase our expertise.
  4. Support Project Managers in reporting to clients, reviewing team member work, and supervising project teams.
  5. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members, as well as project partners, to ensure seamless collaboration.
  6. Participate in conducting technical analyses and contribute to the development of robotic systems architecture.
  7. Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including potential business partners.
Requirements
  1. 5-10 years of experience as an Automation & Robotics Engineer in a similar capacity.
  2. A relevant degree in Engineering or Science.
  3. Strong working knowledge of ROS/ROS2 and MoveIt.
  4. Experience with professional software development work, including robotic systems architecture.
  5. Experience with Cobot manipulators and UGVs, with a strong preference for Universal Robotics UR series and Clearpath Robotics Husky technologies.
  6. Strong working knowledge of Python and C++ programming languages.
  7. Ability to integrate components from multiple manufacturers into a single robotic system.
Additional Requirements
  1. Ability to travel to client sites in the GTA as needed, as well as visit other sites such as Bruce Power a few times per month.
  2. Understanding of long-term generational projects and ability to effectively contribute to them.
  3. Experience with prototyping and fabricating mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  4. Experience with 3D Printing and CADD Modelling, particularly SolidWorks.
