Job Overview

Calian Group Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Robotics Engineer to join our Nuclear team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the development of robotic tooling for Nuclear reactor applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead scientific and technical project work for Calian Nuclear clients, ensuring high-quality deliverables and excellent client satisfaction.
  2. Develop and maintain technical documents, including research approaches, development and testing procedures, and technical reports.
  3. Collaborate with the Director to identify and pursue business opportunities and proposals, leveraging your technical expertise to drive growth and innovation.
  4. Provide technical guidance and support to Project Managers, including reviewing project plans, supervising project team members, and ensuring timely completion of projects.
  5. Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, both within the R&D team and with project partners, to ensure seamless collaboration and project success.
  6. Participate in conducting technical analyses, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation, to inform project decisions and drive business outcomes.
  7. Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, partners, and vendors, to foster a culture of collaboration and mutual respect.
Requirements
  1. 5-10 years of experience as an Automation & Robotics Engineer in a similar capacity, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality results and driving business growth.
  2. A relevant degree in Engineering or Science, with a strong foundation in robotics, automation, and software development.
  3. Strong working knowledge and proficiency in ROS/ROS2, MoveIt, and other relevant technologies, with experience in professional software development work, including robotic systems architecture.
  4. Experience with Cobot manipulators and UGVs, including Universal Robotics UR series and Clearpath Robotics Husky technologies, with a strong understanding of how to integrate components from multiple manufacturers into a single robotic system.
  5. Strong working knowledge of Python and C++ programming languages, with experience in prototyping, fabricating, and testing mechanical, electrical, and software components.
  6. Ability to travel to client sites in the GTA (General Toronto Area) as needed, as well as visit other sites such as Bruce Power (Tiverton, ON) a few times per month.
  7. Understanding of how to interpret and effectively contribute to long-term generational projects, with experience in 3D Printing and CADD Modelling (particularly SolidWorks) considered an asset.
