We are seeking a highly skilled Synthetic Polymer Chemist and Drug Delivery Expert to join our team at McMaster University in the Sheardown Lab. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers on a innovative drug delivery platform.

About the Role

This position offers a unique chance to contribute to the advancement of our micelle system towards human trials through further development and validation. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading efforts to scale up laboratory processes for commercial production and developing analytical methods to characterize polymers and nanoparticles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Test different APIs and optimize for their drug loading and release.
  • Lead efforts to scale up laboratory processes for commercial production.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods to characterize polymers and nanoparticles.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate technology transfer to Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs).
Requirements:
  • MSc or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with instrumentation for chemical and material analysis such as NMR, IR, GPC, DSC, TGA, LCMS, HPLC, UV, rheology, Instron, and more.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to evolving project needs.
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Assets:
  • Experience with writing scientific articles with an established track record of research productivity.
  • Experience with scaling up processes toward commercial production or technology transfer to CDMOs.
