The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Community Residential Counselor to join our team in Toronto. This role offers a unique chance to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support and counseling to residents, focusing on life skills development and transition planning.
  • Facilitate community outings and escorts, ensuring residents' safety and participation.
  • Manage challenging behaviors and crisis situations, utilizing de-escalation techniques and following established protocols.
  • Foster a safe and healthy environment, adhering to policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Services, e.g., BSW, BA, DSW, SSW.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Office and valid certifications in First Aid and Safe Management.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Developmental Services, working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Working knowledge of the Social Inclusion Act and the Act for the Supports of Persons with Developmental Disabilities (2008).
