**Job Summary**

The Salvation Army is seeking an experienced Administrative Support Specialist to join our team. As an Administrative Support Specialist, you will provide administrative support to Corps Officers and Staff, performing a variety of tasks including secretarial and administrative duties.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Drafts and types correspondence, including letters and emails
  • Performs general office duties, such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and filing documents
  • Builds and maintains databases, including contact lists and employee information
  • Operates office equipment, including computers, printers, and photocopiers
  • Drafts and prepares presentations, reports, and other documents
  • Takes attendance and meeting minutes
  • Keeps records of supplies and materials
  • Conducts intake interviews and screens clients for emergency assistance
  • Refers clients to Corps Officers for pastoral assistance
  • Maintains accurate and confidential records of client information
  • Maintains food bank stock and cleanliness
  • May direct and supervise volunteers
  • Client referral to other community resources
  • Assists in organizing seasonal or special programs
  • Maintains program records and prepares monthly reports
  • Prepares receipts and handles donations
  • May perform duties related to deposits

**Qualifications and Education Requirements**

**Education/Certifications**

  • Completed up to two years of Community College

**Experience**

  • Two years of prior Admin related experience, including experience dealing with office equipment and tools
  • Senior administrative experience would be an asset

**Required Skills/Knowledge**

  • Excellent customer service ethics
  • Ability to work in a team setting and take personal initiatives
  • Ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine
  • Knowledge and experience with computer programs, including Excel and Word
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of and support of the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army in Canada
  • Willingness to adhere to a dress code of modesty, neatness, and cleanliness
  • Ability to obtain a criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector
