We are seeking an experienced Senior Solicitor to join our Corporate Legal team in a permanent position, reporting directly to the Director Legal.
Key responsibilities include:
- Negotiating, drafting, interpreting, and reviewing contracts and legal agreements, encompassing construction arrangements, supply of goods and services, and technology agreements.
- Providing expert support and advice to business leaders engaged in third-party negotiations.
- Offering contract administration and claims management guidance.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations to protect the organization's interests.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
As a Senior Solicitor, you will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.
The successful candidate must possess:
- A Law Degree obtained from a recognized university.
- A minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Extensive experience in preparing and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Experience in privacy law would be considered an asset.
- Experience working for a regulated entity would be considered an asset.
- Membership of good standing with a provincial law society and eligibility for admission to the Nova Scotia Barrister's Society.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Proactive teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a keen interest in contributing to the Company's business strategy.
This role may require occasional travel.
