About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join our team at Atlantic Central, a trade association for credit unions in Atlantic Canada. As a key member of our Legal Services team, you will provide legal, policy, and compliance services to our organization and its subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting and reviewing legal agreements, resolutions, by-laws, and other documents to ensure the representation and protection of our interests.
  • Developing and updating legal templates and precedents.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis, working with external counsel as necessary, to provide opinions and advice on various matters.
  • Establishing and managing the Legal Services Department's annual business goals and budget.
  • Supervising and coordinating the activities of the Legal Services summer student.
  • Collecting and organizing corporate and contractual information, managing document and contract management systems.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A law degree and licensure as a lawyer in one of the four Atlantic provinces.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
What We Offer

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is between $85,000 and $110,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including flexible working arrangements, personal days, and opportunities for growth and development.
