About the Role:

This is a 12-month maternity leave replacement contract. As our new Senior Payroll and Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the full payroll cycle, including bi-weekly payroll processing for all staff, as well as commissions, expense reimbursements, bonus, and gifts.

You will ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll laws and regulations by monitoring, processing, validating, and correcting digital and manual employee timesheets. Your duties will include new hire set-ups, updating and maintaining employee data in the payroll system, preparing records of employment, and processing termination payments.

You will also be responsible for ensuring accuracy in payroll calculations and providing general accounting support as required. This includes accounts payable work in multiple currencies across inter-company transactions and monthly reconciliations.

In addition to your technical skills, you will possess excellent time management skills, a strong work ethic, honesty, and ethics. You will be proactive, resourceful, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full payroll cycle, including bi-weekly payroll processing for all staff
  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll laws and regulations
  • New hire set-ups, updating and maintaining employee data in the payroll system
  • Preparing records of employment and processing termination payments
  • General accounting support, including accounts payable work in multiple currencies
  • Monthly reconciliations and other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Payroll, or similar field
  • 3 years' Canadian work experience in full-cycle payroll processing
  • Prior experience in managing multi-site and multi-province payroll processing
  • Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and local tax laws
  • Strong knowledge of payroll and tax reporting compliance requirements
  • Proficient with MS Excel - advanced level required
  • Experience with Ceridian system is preferred
  • PCP certification is an asset

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range between $58,000 to $61,000 per year, depending on experience and profile. This is a hybrid role with Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week.
