Research Technician III

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technician III to join our team at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. As a key member of our research team, you will provide technical support and assistance to scientists, engineers, and line operations in various specialty areas.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement new techniques, test procedures, and standards under the supervision of professional staff.
- Assist in diagnosing and correcting technical problems, including monitoring safety and providing guidance on safe equipment use.
- Perform background research and literature searches as needed, evaluating results and formulating recommendations.
- Provide information and options for product or process modification to improve system performance or meet customer needs.
- Research, design, and analyze experiments, selecting and using appropriate procedures, equipment, and standards to produce required data.
- Set up, test, and calibrate testing equipment.
- Assist in managing daily operations and finances of a laboratory or technical operation, including budgeting, large purchase recommendations, inventory, forecasting, and staff administration.
- University degree in a relevant discipline, or technical program ideally related to pathology, with a minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate degree in a health sciences-related field is an asset.
- Knowledge of Histology techniques, including sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry, is an asset.
