About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Technician III to join our team at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. As a key member of our research team, you will provide technical support and assistance to scientists, engineers, and line operations in the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of specialized research equipment or computational facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new techniques, test procedures, and standards under the supervision of professional staff.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting technical problems, and provide guidance on safe use of equipment.
  • Perform background research and literature searches as needed, and evaluate results to formulate recommendations.
  • Research and determine whether new technology and systems can be applied to work, and provide information and options for product or process modification.
  • Set up, test, and calibrate testing equipment, and assist in managing the daily operations and finances of a laboratory or technical operation.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant discipline, or technical program ideally related to pathology, with a minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate degree in a health sciences-related field is an asset.
  • Knowledge of histology techniques, including sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry, is an asset.
