Job Summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician III to provide technical support to scientists, engineers, and line operations in the Faculty of Medicine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing specialized research equipment and computational facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new techniques, test procedures, and standards under the supervision of professional staff.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting technical problems using advanced testing methods and equipment.
  • Conduct research and literature searches to evaluate results and formulate recommendations.
  • Provide information and options for product or process modification to improve system performance.
  • Research, design, and analyze the results of new experiments.
  • Set up, test, and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Manage the daily operations and finances of a laboratory or technical operation.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or technical program related to pathology.
  • Minimum four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Graduate degree in a health sciences-related field is an asset.
  • Knowledge of histology techniques is an asset.
