Job Summary

Northern Health is seeking a dedicated and culturally sensitive healthcare professional to join our team as an Indigenous Health Service Assistant at the Fort Nelson General Hospital. As an Indigenous Health Service Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing culturally safe and trauma-informed care to patients and families from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. You will work closely with healthcare staff, community health representatives, and other team members to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Your knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and protocols will be essential in providing high-quality care and support to our patients and families.

Key Responsibilities

Provide culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care to patients and families from First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities
Work closely with healthcare staff, community health representatives, and other team members to ensure that patients receive the best possible care
Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous patients, families, and community members
Provide education and support to patients and families on Indigenous health care and cultural protocols
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to Indigenous health care
