Job Title: Indigenous Health Specialist

This is a unique opportunity to join the Government of Northwest Territories as an Indigenous Health Specialist. The successful candidate will work in a school setting, providing direct student care and sharing traditional knowledge to support the health and wellness of children and youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide non-judgmental listening and offer traditional knowledge to support student health and wellness
  • Collaborate with educators, principals, and other school staff to develop and implement culture and language programming
  • Work with community members and organizations to provide comprehensive, person-centered care
  • Provide advice and guidance to students, educators, and other stakeholders on Indigenous health and wellness issues
Requirements:
  • Extensive traditional knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures and histories
  • Diploma in counseling, education, or social work, and one year of experience working with children and youth in a school or counseling setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural setting and provide leadership and expertise in Indigenous health and wellness
