**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Indigenous Health Specialist to join our team in the Government of Northwest Territories. As an Indigenous Health Specialist, you will work collaboratively with students, educators, and community members to provide culturally safe and supportive services.

**About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and youth in the Northwest Territories. You will be responsible for providing direct student care, listening and sharing traditional knowledge, advising on language and cultural programming, and participating in school-wide initiatives to create cultural safety.

You will also collaborate with other community services, including school principals, teachers, regional coordinators, Child Youth Care Counsellors, Social Workers, Nurses, Physicians, Community Health Representatives, RCMP, probation, Victim Services, and local Indigenous and Non-Government Organizations, to provide a comprehensive, person-centered approach to care.

**Responsibilities:**

* Provide non-judgmental listening and offer traditional knowledge to support child and youth health and wellness* Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to optimize wrap-around service delivery* Provide advice to students, educators, principals, other school staff, regional staff, and CYCCs* Provide leadership and expertise in the implementation of culture and language programming* Identify signs of violence, abuse, mental illness, and addictions and take appropriate action* Work effectively in a cross-cultural setting, including with community members impacted by colonization and residential schools

**Requirements:**

* Extensive traditional knowledge or equivalent experience* Diploma in counseling/education or social work, or equivalent combination of education and experience* 1 year of experience working with children and youth in a school or counseling setting* Ability to work independently and as part of a team*
