Job Description

This Medical Administrative Assistant role will work in a team-based environment, performing clerical/receptionist functions in support of client care at UBC Hospital in Vancouver, BC.

Responsibilities:

  • Transcribe and process physicians' orders
  • Communicate with other departments and hospitals to coordinate client appointments and transportation
  • Arrange client tests and receive results
  • Receive visitors and answer the telephone, prioritizing requests
  • Assemble and maintain client charts, arrange for client admissions and discharges
  • Perform timekeeping functions and compile statistics
  • Type and distribute technical and non-technical reports and other materials
  • Maintain an inventory of stationery supplies and ensure filing systems are up-to-date

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have Grade 12 education, medical terminology knowledge, and a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program diploma, along with one year's recent experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Ability to keyboard 40 words per minute

  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Familiarity with computer software applications
