Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing, moving, sorting, cutting, and packaging pieces of scrap metal and vehicles for transport out of our yard. This role requires ensuring the yard is clean and well maintained, while meeting safety standards.

  • Receives metals from customers and assists in unloading if required.
  • Assesses and weighs various types and grades of ferrous metals.
  • Maximizes mix loads of scrap from customers by sorting, high-grading, and segregating accordingly.
  • Ensures property, facilities, and equipment remain in good order.
  • Communicates with customers and ensures they receive professional service.
  • Cuts larger too thick pieces of metal into smaller marketable pieces.
  • Loads and unloads trailers using a forklift.
  • Drains fluids from vehicles and prepares them for baling.
  • Dismantles scrap materials and removes high-value metals from them.
Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience with sorting and allocating ferrous metals, preferably in a busy, high-volume scrap yard.
  • A thorough knowledge of ferrous types and grades and the ability to assess and allocate most scrap by visual inspection.
  • The ability to use a forklift or skid steer.
  • Knowledgeable about general safety practices.
  • A willingness to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine).
  • Able to communicate professionally.
Benefits
