Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Learning and Development Specialist to join our team in the Province of Nova Scotia. In this role, you will be responsible for creating training curriculum and delivering trainings through various methods, working with subject matter experts across the department to develop and enhance employees' skills and provide excellent client services to Nova Scotians.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough training needs assessments, identify knowledge gaps, and develop comprehensive training requirements.
  • Design and deliver engaging training sessions through in-person and online channels, utilizing your expertise in adult education and learning objectives.
  • Manage complex training projects, prioritize tasks, and mitigate risks under tight timelines, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Collaborate with government departments, service providers, and community partners to identify learning needs and exchange training resources, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide logistical oversight for large audiences to plan and execute in-person and online training events, ensuring a smooth experience for participants.

Requirements:

  • A related bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in training development and facilitation, with a proven track record of success.
  • Extensive experience conducting training needs assessments, identifying gaps, and developing training curriculum, resulting in measurable improvements in employee skills and performance.
  • A comprehensive understanding of learning and development principles, including learning objectives, adult education, and instructional design.
  • The ability to take initiative, conduct client consultations, and make informed decisions, driving business outcomes and growth.
  • Experience overseeing logistics, coordination, and training plan development, with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of using technology to support training development and delivery, including Learning Management Systems and virtual classroom management techniques.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus a defined benefit pension plan, health, dental, life insurance, and other benefits.
