We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dietitian to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our residents. This part-time role is shared between our Roseway Manor location in Shelburne and our Surf Lodge location in Lockeport. As a Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remain up-to-date with new research in the field of nutrition by attending workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes.
  • Review the physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake.
  • Research new developments in the field of long-term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements.
  • Implement dietary measures with a long-term view of maintaining or improving a patient's quality of life.
  • Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care.
  • Compare the effectiveness of dietary plans against resident's progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary.
  • Discuss care plan meetings with the families of patients so that they are included in the necessary programs.
  • Chart and document all dietary progress notes, including counselling, diet instructions.
  • Assess the need for new methods of feeding.
  • Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists.
  • Excellent ability to manage high stress or highly emotional situations.
  • Sound judgement and able to execute decisions efficiently.
